Fluocinolone Acetonide & Miconazole Nitrate is a dermatological mixture of medicine used to decrease swelling/inflammation, itching, and redness that occur due to some fungal skin infections. Fungal infection is a skin disease in which a fungus attacks the tissues and causes infection. Fungal infections may be spread from one person to another.

Fluocinolone Acetonide & Miconazole Nitrate is a mixture of two drugs, namely: Fluocinolone acetonide and Miconazole. Fluocinolone acetonide relates to the category of corticosteroids that work by stopping the formation of certain chemical messengers in the body that create redness, itching, and swelling. On the other hand, Miconazole relates to the category of antifungals that work by causing holes in the fungal cell membranes thereby killing the fungi.

Fluocinolone acetonide is a steroid that acts inside skin cells and prohibits the formation of certain chemical messengers in the body that affect redness, itching, and swelling. The fungal cell membranes are important for their survival as they stop the entry of unwanted chemicals into the cells and stop the leakage of cell contents. Miconazole is an antifungal that forms holes in the fungal cell membranes and helps to kill fungi from the body. This medicine helps to clear fungal infections and provides relief from cracking, burning, scaling, and itching of the skin caused because of infections.

Directions for Use

Take a small amount of ointment on the finger and apply it as a thin layer on the clean and dry affected area and surrounding skin. Avoid contact with ointment with the nose, mouth, or eyes. Accidentally when you come in contact with this area then immediately, wash with water carefully. Wash your hands before and after using this medicine if your hands are not the affected part to stop the spread of infection

Precautions

If you are known to be allergic to Fluocinolone Acetonide & Miconazole Nitrate or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Do not use Fluocinolone Acetonide & Miconazole Nitrate in more than prescribed doses it will harm your skin.  Don’t use this medicine for a prolonged time as it may cause worse effects such as skin thinning, visible small veins, or stretch marks.  Avoid using Fluocinolone Acetonide & Miconazole Nitrate for more than 5 days on the face. Do not apply Fluocinolone Acetonide & Miconazole Nitrate on open wounds, cuts, scrapes, or damaged skin.
